Yankton is a great community with a population of about 15,500. It is located on the Missouri River just down from Gavin’s Point Dam and Lewis and Clark Lake. This body of water is great in the summer for camping, swimming, boating, and fishing. Yankton offers a water park, archery center, and an ice-skating rink. There is a beautiful baseball field located right alongside the river as well as the Crane-Youngworth field, which is the local place to play football and soccer. Yankton offers several gym sites, a hospital and medical clinics and other professional businesses.
Five elementary schools (public & private), two middle schools, and one high school, take pride in educating our youth. Yankton is also the home of Mount Marty University. There are two libraries in town: Yankton Community Library and Mother Jerome Schmitt Library, which is located at the University. Yankton is the Hub for smaller area communities, providing groceries and other shopping needs with several restaurants to enjoy.
